Things moving along apace now.

Today there was an enormous amount of excitement: yesterday the long-awaited mirror went in only for us all to realise (too late and once the glue had set) that there was a fault in it.  If it had been anywhere else we wouldn't have batted an eyelid; but it was right under a light, so very obvious and highly visible.

To their great credit the guys had spotted it and had spent a sleepless night pondering what to do.  YouTube was consulted: apparently there is this stuff called 'cerium oxide' which some Californians were trying to sell us; but Dawes Glass reckoned it was no good.  So the decision was made.  We taped up the mirror as much as possible and then swung a lump hammer at it.  It didn't flinch.  Oh the irony.  So we swung an even bigger lump hammer at it and it finally yielded, sending thousands of bits of glass into the surrounding countryside.

We hoovered Sasha as best we could, cleaned up and glued a new mirror in place.

Ta-dah!
